Artists Collaborative Theatre Presents: Sister Act
May 4 - May 28
Artists Collaborative Theatre will be showcasing Sister Act May 4th – May 28th, 2017. Showtimes will be on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m.
Sister Act, a divine musical comedy, is coming to the stage at Artists Collaborative Theatre in Elkhorn City, KY! You’ve seen the movie, now see the play! With several set changes, powerhouse vocals, and hilariously sassy attitude, this show is a ray of light you don’t want to miss.
Based on the 1992 film of the same name, Sister Act tells the story of aspiring disco diva Deloris Van Cartier. Trying to work her way to the top in 1970s Philadelphia, Deloris falls in love with a very tough—and very married—gangster boyfriend named Curtis. When Deloris witnesses him commit a murder she ends up in hiding on police orders in a convent whose parish has fallen on hard times. Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and the uptight Mother Superior. Though the sequin-free lifestyle doesn’t agree with her, Deloris finds her calling working with the choir, and breathes new life into the dusty convent while discovering a sisterhood she’s never had before.
Sister Act is directed by Samantha West, who is assisted by Emily Addis as musical director, Paul Platt as technical director, Pam Stewart as resident costumer, and Bix Meyer and Justin Casey as lighting and sound technicians. Samantha West also wears the hat of scenic designer for this production, assisted by Paul Plat, Roger Belcher, Rodney Ruth, and Adam Johnson with set construction.
Sister Act features many familiar names and faces in the cast list, including: Sarah Norman as Deloris Van Cartier, Kristin Coleman as Tina/Nun, Emily Chaney as Michelle/Mary Martin-of-Tours, Adam Johnson as Curtis Jackson, Mason Hampton as TJ, Elathan Bowling as Joey, Andrew Bentley as Pablo, JR Vasquez as Ernie, Brad Bryant as Eddie, Paul Platt as Mosignor O’Hara, Sara George as Mother Superior, Lainey Vasquez as Sister Mary
