Randolph McCoy statue

For many years, William Anderson “Devil Anse” Hatfield’s gravesite has featured a statue in honor of the Hatfield patriarch. For over a decade, it has been a goal of Pike County Tourism CVB to secure a statue honoring McCoy patriarch Randolph McCoy, but financial difficulties has proven to be the greatest challenged, until now. Pike County Tourism CVB board member Bob Scott, who owns the Randolph McCoy property in Hardy, Kentucky, along with wood carver Travis Williams, finally made this dream a reality with the unveiling of the Randolph McCoy statue, located next to the McCoy Well on the legendary property where the McCoy Cabin once stood.

The Randolph McCoy statue stands approximately 8 feet tall, and is situated in such a way to provide visitors with a beautiful photo opportunity. The statue was unveiled during Hatfield McCoy Heritage Days 2018, with direct descendants of both families in town for the special occasion.

“We wanted to see this project come to life,” said Tony K. Tackett, Pike County Tourism CVB Executive Director. “We are so blessed to have such an active board, willing to do what it takes to make things a reality.”

“Travis Williams did a great job with this project,” said Jay Shepherd, Pike County Tourism CVB Marketing Director. “He has such a big heart for our region, and the skill to do incredible things to enhance our Hatfields & McCoys Feud Tour.”

“This is just another piece of the overall plan to make the Feud Tour really special,” said Bob Scott, Pike County Tourism CVB board member. “Our next project will be to restore the McCoy Cabin, something dear to my heart. We are right there. The materials are there, we just need the labor to build it.”
